Elinoa's Bat Mitzvah Day

July 21, 2010

Finally, the big day has arrived! The morning of Elinoa's bat mitzvah and one of the reasons for this amazing trip.

First thing in the morning we took a ride to Ramat Rahel (where we will be hosting our guests for shabbat for Leora's bat mitzvah next week) to "check it out". The place is perfect and we are even more excited than ever. After walking the grounds and seeing the rooms and the pools we took our very hungry children to the Malcha Mall for lunch. The kids could not believe the food court and that everything was kosher. Yehuda and I and the boys ate a delicious lunch of Sbarro's pizza, while Leora opted for Burgers Bar. Both choices were delicious! Zachary even lost a tooth while eating his pizza -- mazal tov! Joshua and Benjamin were then thoroughly convinced that they each had loose teeth as well :) After our yummy lunch, we returned to our apartment to get ready for the bat mitzvah.

Elinoa's bat mitzvah...so beautiful...so special...so much fun!

When we arrived at Neot Kedumim, a man made biblical nature preserve with gorgeous views, we took a "train" ride to do some workshops and to see the preserve. Benjamin made sure to let everyone know that it was not, in fact, a train, because there were no tracks! We made our own zatar from the leaves of hyssop trees and learned about how they used to make wine during the time of the Torah. We then went beside a beautiful lake (with lots of ducks) for a yummy cocktail hour at dusk. The sunset was beautiful, as were the views.

The party itself was so amazing. The dancing was fun and lively and Sarah and James (and Elinoa, of course) spoke beautifully. The montage made me cry (so, what else is new) and we thoroughly enjoyed feeling the sheer simcha of our good friends. Except for Benjamin falling off a chair and splitting his lip open, the evening was absolutely perfect. We need a venue like Neot Kedumim in Teaneck.

We finally arrived back at our apartment at about 1:45 AM and, needless to say, the kids were asleep immediately.
