Another BUSY BUSY day with the Kohns--we left our apartment at 7:25 AM (only 25 minutes behind schedule this time) to head out for our Eilat adventure.
Our first stop was Qumran where we learned al about how and where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found and the sect hat wrote them. It was pretty interesting and VERY hot--even at 8 AM!
Next we went to Ein Gedi, one of Yehuda's favorite spots in Israel. We hiked up to the first and second waterfalls and enjoyed a cool refreshing swim in each. The kids really loved it. We enjoyed the quiet fo awhile until...the first of the tour buses pulled in and then it was packed! The kids especially loved the ibex and the other little unidentified animals that were scurrying about. Interestingly enough, despite the extreme desert heat, there was a beautiful breeze. When we returned to the bottom we enjoyed a yummy ice cream treat.
Next stop, the Dead Sea. Yehuda, Joshua, Leora and Zachary decided to go for a float. Leora immediately decided that it was not for her and Zachary quickly followed suit. Joshua could have stayed in forever. We tried to figure out the temperature. Benjamin and I (the family photographers for this stop) had a hard time standing there waiting it was so hot.
Next we stopped at the flour caves but they were closed, then we stopped at Timna Park but they said all of the activities were closed because it was too hot so we arrived at our hotel a little bit earlier than expected. After an early dinner in the lobby cafe, we went to King's City, an indoor biblical theme park. The kids had a great time and it was totally empty so there were no lines. Other than Joshua being devastated because he could no go on the water slide because he wasn't tall enough, it was a success.
After baths and showers we all collapsed :)
